5 Lifestyle Hacks To Help You Get Unstuck and Moving Forward

Life can get a bit chaotic and feel out of control at times. Obstacles will always stand in our way and make everything a bit more difficult.

I recommend focusing on what you can control, so that you can restore harmony and balance to your day. When you take control of the chaos by showing yourself some love, you will get unstuck and move forward.

Here are 5 simple lifestyle hacks that will help calm your life and get you back on track with self-care. 

  1. Replace your phone with a book
    Stop the scroll! Looking at your phone constantly can put you in a negative state of mind. Replace your phone with a book 30-60 min before bed to help you unwind. Studies show that when you cut out screen time before bedtime it can help improve your sleep and calm your mind.
     
  2. Focus on deep breathing
    Did you know that most adults take shallow breaths in their chest? We are born to naturally breathe deep into our belly. When chaos creeps up, stop and take 5 DEEEP breaths to help regulate the nervous system and alleviate stress and worry.
     
  3. Have fun with a new activity
    If you dread doing something you won't stick to it, no matter how good it is for you. If you are struggling to stay active and moving your body daily, do something that brings you joy, like a new fitness program, a hike in the woods, or a bike ride with your family. By setting the intention to make fitness fun, you will start to look forward to being more active. 
     
  4. Clean out your kitchen
    Throw out the processed food, chips, sugary snacks. Leave fresh fruit out and chop up veggies for easy access. This will help you avoid mindless snacking and giving into unhealthy temptations. The last thing you need to stress about is regretting unnecessary binge eating. Plus, it feels good to have "good for you" snacks easily accessible.
     
  5. Let it go
    Move away from placing labels on yourself like "I'm not good enough" or "I can't do it". Replace those with empowering affirmations like "I can do hard things" or "I am strong and can overcome obstacles". This will help you feel empowered and in control so you can overcome any obstacles!
