5 ways to stay active during the Covid pandemic that don't involve a screen

When Covid-19 hit the world, we had no idea the long term effect it would have on society.

Who knew that things like travel plans, sporting events, schools and even weddings would be canceled or closed. 

As hard as it's been, we have to remain safe and help stop the spread so we can eventually get back to normal life. 

I continue to remind my clients about the importance of staying active by exercising at least 30 minutes a day, 4 days a week and eating a clean diet. 

It's vital to keep our immunity up and not let quarantine living create bad habits that will have a negative effect on our health.

Activities are limited but I wanted to provide you with 5 ways that you can stay active and get away from your computer screen.

  1. Get Into Nature: go for a hike or a jog on a trail. Find a place that is calming and will allow you to disconnect. 

  2. Pick Up Your Food or Eat Out: depending upon where you live, most restaurants are open for outdoor seating or take out. Rather than ordering food to be delivered to your house, go pick it up or eat out. Park several blocks away from the restaurant so you can enjoy a stroll downtown.

  3. Social Distance Picnic: pack up a nice lunch or dinner and head to the mountains or the beach for a nice meal outdoors. If you are able, gather with a small group and sit 6 feet apart so that you can enjoy being social while being safe.

  4. Ride Your Bike: rather than driving to run errands, ride your bike! Or if you enjoy biking for exercise, take a nice long ride on your mountain bike or street bike.

  5. Read A Book: get lost in a good book rather than a Netflix series. Reading is a great way to decompress and relax. Although you aren't physically active, you are exercising your brain by reading rather than binge-watching TV.

Please be sure to check your local restrictions so that you are being safe and following the guidelines for the county that you live in. 

Even though we are unable to partake in the many social events and activities that we'd normally enjoy during the summer, the good news is there are plenty of ways we can remain active and connected, even within social distancing guidelines.
