What is the 80-20 rule for nutrition?

There are some benefits knowing the answer to this question, having a great understanding of good balance when it comes to clean eating and treating yourself. You're going to avoid binge eating junk food. You're also going to feel more in control of your nutrition on a regular basis.

There are some problems that will arise by not understanding this question. Unfortunately a lot of times you're going to have a hard time figuring out how to eat a better balanced diet so you'll get results. You're going to feel frustrated with yourself for slipping up. You're going to give up and make bad food choices.

But it can get even worse by not understanding the 80-20 rule. It can have a huge effect on your health. You could end up gaining fat, which is hard to lose, belly fat, and weight and just feeling unhappy and unmotivated.

I used to completely not understand the 80-20 rule. I ate whenever I wanted. Over the weekends were my cheat days. It was literally I would eat semi healthy during the week and then eat really bad on the weekends and I couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing weight. I felt awful every Monday morning which led to super unproductive days.

I learned that I could easily consume all of the calories back during the week that I spent burning off just in the two days over the weekend. My lifestyle was completely unbalanced. I had to really change my mindset about eating on the weekends and learn the 80-20 rule and that's really what transformed my nutrition.

Some of the solutions are when you understand what the 80-20 rule is, is you're going to actually be able to focus on eating as healthy as possible 80% of the time so you can allow yourself to indulge about 20% of the time and just spread out those treats. Spread them out during the week. Don't do what I did and just save it for over the weekend because then you're going to end up binge eating. If you want a glass of wine on a Monday, have a glass of wine. But then the next three or four days you're drinking water instead of wine. You're finding that balance.

Don't think of treats as cheat meals. Just enjoy it and move on. If you are eating healthy 80% of the time you're going to really have a good balance when it comes to eating properly and you're going to start getting those results and maintaining them.

Being able to follow the 80-20 rule will make you feel healthier and happier.
