Let's talk about how you can be more present in your daily life.
There are definitely some benefits to being more present. You're going to feel fulfilled, you're going to be more productive, and you're going to be fully-present in every moment. But there are some problems that will arise if you're not able to be present in your daily life.
You're going to feel overwhelmed, unable to focus, and not be present with the ones that matter the most to you, and it can get even worse if you keep going. Being plugged in all the time and not being present, you're going to get burnt out. You're going to be unable to get work done and you're going to lose that precious time with your loved ones.
So I want to tell you a little bit about a story that happened to me. And I had a really hard time unplugging. I work from home, I'm an entrepreneur, and I'm constantly thinking of new ideas. It's hard to unplug when my office is right in the other room, and then we have our cellphones, and we have our laptops, and we have all this stuff going on in this fast-paced world that we live in.
It's really easy to be plugged in 24/7, but I realized that I was actually getting really burnt out because I was spending a lot of time being plugged in at the end of the day, even though I thought I was just relaxing, checking social media, and things like that.
But I ended up getting really burnt out and not excited to work the next day because I wasn't able to completely shut my brain off. On top of that, my husband and I weren't even really interacting at night. We would just sit on the couch, and look at our phones, or watch TV, or look at the computer, and weren't really conversing at all. We even got in the bad habit of having dinner on the couch most of the nights, without even sitting down and just being able to talk at the end of our busy days. So I wasn't being present and I definitely found ways to make that change.
And some of those things that I did, these are the solutions that worked for me. So unplugging from devices is really important at the end of the day. And it really does bring back more joy and happiness into your life. So what I did, is I set a timer at the end of the day, when my phone was to be shut off completely. And I know it can be a habit to check your phone, so I put it in the other room.
Or, I put it on airplane mode, so I can't even hear it altogether. And it really did make me feel a lot happier, and less overwhelmed when I made a conscious effort to be more present into my life, in my life, and unplug on a nightly basis.
So once you practice how to unplug, you'll need to learn why it's important to continue this new habit on a daily basis and not slip back down into that rabbit hole, which is really easy to do because I find myself doing it a lot. I just really have to remember the things that I practice on a regular basis. Just think about how freeing it would be to drop all the excuses and take action on being more present in your daily life.
