The difficult situations you are in now aren't your fault, but could those situations have been avoided?

Yes, they 100% could have been but we have to own the choices we've made.

On a daily basis, I hear excuses about how "I don't have time for (fill in the blank)"...

Making excuses is not going to make your time magically free up!

But guess what? When you take responsibility for how you spend your time, you can reclaim the power to change it.

If it's important enough, you'll make the time. If it's not, you'll make an excuse...

Am I right?

There is a difference in owning your choices and blaming yourself for not reaching your goals!

Embrace the fact that you have the control to change your circumstances.

3 Tips To Start Owning Your Choices Today:

  1. DO A BRAIN DUMP: Write down all the things you have on your plate (i.e. your job, kid responsibilities, volunteer work, social obligations, to-do's at home, etc). 

    Take a good look at that list and ask yourself "are these choices I have committed to helping me reach my goals in life or are they detouring me from them?"

  2. TRIM THE FAT: Highlight the top 6-10 things on your list and commit to trimming down the fat. That means you might have to say no more often so that you can free up some time for yourself and that's ok! Get over the fear of letting others down. If you are upfront and tell them WHY you have to let go of this commitment, they will respect you for the choice you made...and if they don't, they'll get over it. 

  3. OWN YOUR CHOICES: Take a look at the list of the 6-10 things you are committed to. Rank them in order, 1 being your top priority. Take out your calendar and time block these commitments into your calendar (I personally like to color code my top priorities). You may have to make some changes to your schedule in order to fit in your priorities and you may find that there isn't enough time to do them all. 

    If that's the case, go back to step 2 and re-evaluate. Keep in mind, you have full control over your choices and you can change them at any time! Maybe one commitment you have on your list lasts for a few months so when that one is over, you can add another one...but only if it aligns with your goals!
